AAEOY Speaker Series
AAEOY (Asian American Engineer of the Year) is an annual recognition event on the national platform to honor the most distinguished Asian American professionals with their leadership, technical achievements and remarkable public services.
AAEOY was first introduced in 2002, with a total 304 awardees to date. The awardees have served as role models and sources of inspiration for the STEM community. Past awardees included Nobel Laureates, academic scholars, key corporate executives, and an astronaut!
AAEOY 2020 was delayed by the Covid 19. The AAEOY committee decided to invite past awardees to share their technical knowledge and experience in the AAEOY Speaker Series at this challenging moment till the award ceremony can take place!

Next-generation healthcare will be driven by prevention and treatment strategies that take individual variability into consideration. Much of this variability is captured in the large amount of data of different types: clinical encounters, lab results, diagnostics, medications, genomics, physiological, lifestyle, social behavioral, etc. Speaker will discuss these methodologies, use cases, lessons learned and important future directions.
About the Speaker
Dr. Jianying Hu is an IBM Fellow and Global Science Leader, AI for Healthcare at IBM Research. She is also IEEE Fellow, IAHSI Fellow, and IAPR Fellow. She is responsible for working across IBM Research global labs to define and drive an AI science leadership strategy for healthcare at IBM. Dr. Hu also leads the Center for Computational Health at IBM Research, located in New York and Cambridge. The center consists of a multidisciplinary team of over 30 Ph.D. and MD researchers working on applying data science to Healthcare. It conducts scientific research and technical innovations in the broad areas of data driven healthcare analytics, with focuses on predictive analytics, disease modeling, real world evidence generation, translational informatics, connected health and computational health behavior.
Dr. Hu has published over 120 peer reviewed scientific papers and holds 31 patents. She chaired the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Working Group from 2014 to 2016. She is a fellow of IEEE (elected in 2015), a fellow of the International Association of Pattern Recognition (elected in 2010), and a recipient of the Asian American Engineer of the Year Award (2013).
