EECS mission / objectives:

EECS group would focus on building the EECS Asian-American engineer community and help all the community members who are under network to grow scientific excellence, the network and leadership.
 

 Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) Technical Group Leaders

 Jonathan Chiang -- EECS Group and Founder of the Coding Study Group

Jonathan Chiang (姜至真) is the CIE/USA-SF secretary, board member, and the EECS technical group chair. He served as the CIE/USA-SF treasurer in 2019 and founded the CIE Coding Study Group. Devoted to promote the connections among the Bay Area engineering and science community, Jonathan has organized many technical seminars, lectures, and study group sessions.

Jonathan is in the IC design semiconductor industry, managing next-generation broadband projects. His professional background spans across communication, computer vision, robotics, and computer-aided surgery. Jonathan received his M.S. in computer science from Johns Hopkins University and M.S. and B.S. in engineering from National Taiwan University. Aside from his profession, Jonathan actively volunteers in various charity activities such as wildfire relief and homeless outreach. Since 2015, he has hosted over 100 radio episodes broadcasted in both Silicon Valley and Taiwan. 

 

 Dr. Wilson Yen -- EECS Group Chair 

Dr. Sheng-Feng (Wilson) Yen (顏育翔博士), received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of California Los Angeles, M.S. in Business Management, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Florida. He has served as a CIE-SF volunteer since 2017. Currently, Dr. Yen is working as a Principal technical lead in HW electronic industry. He worked as a System Engineer in APPLE, a Sr. Sensor Engineer in Bosch, and a Sr. Analog IC designer in Texas Instrument. His technical background focused on electronic component, module, system integration and design.

Dr. Yen also dedicated himself to community service. Not only serving in CIE, he also serves as a volunteer in Monte Jade West, Connecting Taiwan (CTW) and TAITA. He also devoted himself in mentorship program to build Asian communities. His vision would focus on promoting Asian career development in various societies

 

Yingbin Wang -- Coding Study Group Advisor

 Mr. Yingbin Wang (王英斌) has been working in the IT industry for more than 30 years. He is a veteran in software life cycle including development, QA and sustaining. He also had worked on hardware design and manufacture in early years. Except working as CIE webmaster, he is active in CIE meetup and social media coordination. He plays an online marketing director role in SVCWireless. And he is also an active member in Toastmaster International.

He got his bachelor degree from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University. He received his Master from Institute of computing technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

Stephen Wu -- EECS Group Officer and Coding Study Group Advisor

Stephen Wu is a Senior Firmware Architect at Lab 126 Inc., an Amazon subsidiary, where his work is focused on the development of firmware in embedded systems used in Internet of Thing applications. Prior to that, he worked in Samsung Electronics, Apple, National Semiconductor, and Compal Electronics. Stephen received his M.S, degree in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science from National Central University.

 

 Tina Chien -- EECS Group Officer and Coding Study Group Coordinator

Tina Chien (簡秀玲) is a stay-at-home mom. She had 6+ years software engineering experience in embedded systems and APP development. Later, she switched her career path and became a Redken stylist. However, she felt that she was not the sales type stylist and found her new pursuit as a self-driving car enthusiast. She founded women only data science enthusiasts study group and Leetcode study group.

 

Dr Zhi (Zee) Zhai — EECS Group Secretary and Coding Study Group Coordinator

Dr. Zhi “Zee” Zhai (翟志博士) joined CIE in 2020, and services as the secretary of the EECS group. Dr. Zhai is currently a senior software engineer at Roblox Corp., focused on collecting platform metrics and building data pipelines.
He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Nankai University in Tianjin, and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame. His research was mainly concentrated on organizing large-scale online platforms that multiple agents can leverage to work and contribute towards a common goal. 

 

 Dr. Libo Weng -- Coding Study Group Coordinator

Dr. Libo Weng (翁立波博士), Ph.D. of Kent State University, is a member of the Board of Directors and serves as the Treasurer and Chair of the Electronics Design Technology group. He also serves on marketing in CIE-SF and public relation in National Council, Chinese Institute of Engineers USA. He started working with CIE as a volunteer in 2016.

Dr. Weng is currently a Staff Product Characterization Engineer at OmniVision Technologies, where his work is focused on the development of micro display products for VR/AR and telecom markets. Dr. Weng received his B.S degree in Applied Physics from Central South University and earned his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Physics from Kent State University, where he conducted research into the design, simulation and characterization of Liquid Crystal Material and Display.

Dr. Weng has published 11 technical papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, with over 60 citations.

 

Dr. Yan-ting (Vicky) Liau -- Coding Study Group Coordinator

Dr. Yan-ting (Vicky) Liau joined CIE in 2021. She got her Ph. D. in geographical information science at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her research mainly focuses on leveraging spatial statistics to enhance statistical and machine learning methodologies. She is currently working as a data scientist at Climate Corporation, concentrating on cooperating with cross-functional teams to provide product recommendations.

 Joseph Ting -- EECS Group Officer

Joseph Ting (丁又人) had worked for fabless IC design houses for over 20 years. As an IC test profession on ATE, Mr. Ting developed test solutions, both in hardware and software, for mixed-signal SOCs and SDRAM. He also had experiences with device driver and firmware development on PC. Mr. Ting holds a MSCS degree from Arizona State University with concentration on AI. In his spare time, he has interests in meditation practice and computer music.

 

 Su-Ling Wang -- EECS Group Officer

Su-Ling Wang (王素玲) has more than 25 years working experience in the network and communication industry. She was a technical marketing engineer at Hsinchu ITRI/CCL for four years before she received the MS degree in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University. She then worked in Cisco for 20+ years in the engineering field of network testing. She enjoys learning new technologies as well as serving the community. Su-Ling has been an active CIE member since 2018.
