CIE IOT workshop 5/3

MediaTek LinkIt demo and workshop

Title: A Suite of IoT Platforms from MediaTek Labs

There is an increasing trend towards connecting every imaginable electrical or electronic device found in the home. Smart, connected home and office devices are transforming the way people interact with the physical world, from remotely turning on a table lamp or unlocking a door, to intelligently controlling room temperature based on the environment/energy data and the presence. That is the trend of the Internet of Things (IoT).

In this workshop, we will introduce a suite of IoT platforms powered by MediaTek chipsets, which are suitable for prototyping IoT devices ranging from smart plugs to smart appliances to advanced surveillance devices. The introduction will cover the hardware spec, software stack and API of LinkIt Connect, LinkIt ONE and LinkIt Smart platforms. Then we will focus on the LinkIt ONE platform and its capability, and demonstrate the connectivity (cellular, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as GPS), sensor interfaces and cloud sandbox. We will give a hands-on demonstration of how easy and quick it is to prototype an idea, using various sensors to collect environment data to the cloud through different connectivity (such as GSM/GPRS or WiFi) and how simple it is to connect to the cloud.

The audiences are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer to the workshop so that they can have a hands-on experience with the platforms.
